Current projects
As I've been busy with my U3A Creative Writing Group, my own projects are on the back-burner for the moment - although the characters are still alive and kicking inside my head! To celebrate National Short Story Week 2011, I have compiled and edited an anthology of work from the U3A group, entitled 'Write On', which has been professionally printed by one of our members. These will be on sale for £1.50 at our November meeting, when we are 'Group of the Month', with all profits going to our U3A branch's chosen charity for this year - a children's hospice. This has been our first group project and I'm delighted with the result.
As I am also group leader for one of our reading groups, we will be celebrating National Short Story Week by discussing short stories (both classic and modern) chosen by the individual members. I'm also planning to take to the November meeting the double CD of short stories, Women Aloud, so that members can appreciate the short story in a different form. I recently attended the launch of this CD (produced by Ian Skillicorn, director of National Short Story Week and shortstoryradio.com) in The Women's Library, London, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It was a pleasure to meet the writers and the actors who brought their stories to life, all of whom had donated their time and talents in support of the Helena Kennedy Foundation.
